Our Carlsbad homeowner and client Chris had a goal to renovate his backyard area and create a beautiful and functional environment for entertainment of friends and family. Initially the backyard was relatively bare and bland, and needed hardscaping and softscaping Tal, their project manager from Designs 4 You Remodeling, gladly assisted with planning, permitting, and ultimately handled the seamless implementation and build.
We started with custom pavers from KRC of Poway, to create a solid and elegant foundation and flooring. Chris’ plans required a fireplace and pergola, to bring in comfort on the chilly days, as well as shade for those warm San Diego sunny days.
The pergola, a type of roofing for the area, is rough/rustic wood with a chocolate-walnut stain. Pergolas are an affordable and elegant way to bring in some cover for the area, in comparison to umbrellas or a full roof.
The fireplace was custom built with cinder blocks and a beautiful veneer for the outside. It is a natural gas powered fireplace, perfect for the backyard area and much safer in fire-prone San Diego than a traditional wood fire. The mantle of the outdoor fireplace was matched to the pergola with the same chocolate-walnut stain.
