These guys were really great, I had them come quote a job where they could have easily made a buck off of me, but instead they told me how I could easily do the project myself and save thousands. Feels rare to come across honesty like that! I would definitely trust this company to do an amazing job. I’ll be calling them for future needs!

windows need replacing

Everyone’s house has windows, and maybe you haven’t thought about getting them replaced, but here are five ways you can tell they need replacing.

  1. They are closed but you feel a draft.

Drafts can often occur when the window doesn’t shut properly or if the lock is not working up to code. Which could potentially be a security issue too.

One important thing to consider with drafty windows is that your energy bills to heat your home will be higher and in some cases that could be up to 25%. Windows in 2020 are significantly more energy efficient than older ones so you could end up saving quite a lot of cash. If money is holding you back on replacing your windows, don’t let it. These will pay for themselves in the long run.

  1. Heating and cooling bill are higher

In the winter you have your heater working overtime, but if you have a leak or crack in your window, you’ll need to keep is going just to stay warm while all that heat is going outside. On the flip side, its summer and your AC is on full blast. You want to keep that cool air inside, but instead its keeping the birds cool. As previously stated, some people end up paying 25% more on these energy bills when they could fix the problem at the source.

Older windows are often single-paned which means more vulnerable to leaks. It’s a very good idea to invest in double glazing with argon gas and low-emissivity (LoE) glass to reduce heat loss.

  1. Frame is rotted or damaged.

If your frame is rotting, you’ll be able to tell. Many people will try to paint over it or may just let it be. Nether of these are a good idea. If you see rot its time to replace your window frame. But maybe its not rotting, maybe there are just cracks or minor damages, do you need to repair it then? Or will good ole duct tape fix it? You definitely need to fix it. Not only will it get more expensive the longer you wait, duct tape is no way to keep your house looking as good as you deserve. Those minor cracks could be the cause of your draft or even why its hard to lock your windows.

  1. Difficult to open, close and/or lock.

Chances are you have already googled “my windows won’t shut or lock” and you’ve tried all the DIY tips and tricks, but you’re still having issues with them. If this is the case, they may just be shot. There are so very many reasons you want to replace your windows if this is the case. When your windows don’t close you run into the draft issue but more importantly you are putting yourself at risk for burglary. If you can’t fix it yourself, its time to give us a call.

  1. Can’t stand too look at them.

Your home is your sanctuary. Take control of what is yours to make it the best you want it to be. You owe it to yourself to upkeep and enjoy looking at your investment. If you want to save money on your bills, keep yourself safe or just want them to look as beautiful as you can. Give us a call.
